Faith

Life is so unpredictable.  Even with much going on, it is critical to pause and reflect on life.  Today was a stressful day, and when I looked down at my Scripture-a-day app, here is the scripture it gave to me:

2 Nephi 32:3
"Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ.  Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do."

Whenever you are conflicted on what you need to do, ask.  Get on your knees and ask.  Only then will you  be able to get answer.

I am so truly grateful for Brandon and the love that he has for me.  He is such a sweet person, and so kind that I thank my Heavenly Father for him everyday.

A Sister's Testimony

A few weeks ago, I was asked to give a talk in Church.  I was given 5 topics to choose from which is not normal.  Usually, you are given a specific topic.  The Topic I chose was "The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ".

I was struggling with how to present the topic.  This was Investigator Sunday.  It was hard for me, because I had never been an investigator, but I had been raised in the Church.  So I called Mom.

After that, I hung up to continue to work on my talk.  Not a moment too soon, my phone rings.  It was Amber.  She asked what I was doing.  I let her know that I was trying to prepare for a talk.  She said that mom had told her that I was going to give a talk on Sunday.  Amber said that she knew that I had been trying to get a hold of her for a few days, and when she got off the phone she had to call me.

She asked what my talk was about, and I told her.  Then I told her why I was struggling.  In not a direct way, Amber bore her testimony of the Book of Mormon.  As I listened to her, my heart filled with Joy.  I think the most comforting thing that she said was this.

"It is easy to be skeptical of the Book of Mormon.  And yet, once you read it you can't deny the power of the Book of Mormon.  It's message is that we all have a purpose.  That we all are loved and this book can bring peace to the soul."

Amber,
Thank You for your testimony.  I don't think that I can add anything to it.  You are a tremendous person, and have such a big heart.  I love you so much!!!  Keep being your tender hearted self.

1001 Things to be Thankful For.

So, I am going to tell on myself a little bit.  Around this time in 2007 I was sitting in Sacrament and the talk was on being Grateful.  Specifically he said  (as best as I can remember) " There are so many books out there for 1001 things.  1001 ways to cook chicken, 1001 places to hike, 1001 ways to say I love you.... etc."

With so many things that we have been blessed with, it should be easy to write 1001 Things to be thankful for.

So, I started my list.  I originally wanted to be done by Thanksgiving, and I am only at 263.  (This is where I am telling on myself )  I am thankful for so many more things, I just struggling with putting them into words.  So, I will try to add the rest utilizing not only my Journal, but this blog.  So if you want to help me make my list of 1001 things to be thankful for, let me know.

I was searching online for a book, and found that Hallmark has printed the 1001 things to be thankful for book, and many other blogs that talk about being thankful.  What a great thought, that so many are looking to those things to be grateful for.

Here is the beginning of my list and add if you wish.

1.  My Savior.
2.  My Sweet Dear Husband Brandon.  For the love he gives me, and the kindness he has in his heart.
3.  My Mother Gaye and Father Dennis for raising me to be the person I am.
4.  My Grandmother for loving me.
5.  My Big Brother Jared for being such a protector.  (And the biggest goofball you will ever meet)
6.  My Older Sister Amber for she has one of the biggest hearts you will ever meet.
7.  My Younger Sister Lisa, for her creativity.
8.  My Youngest Sister Rebecca for Loving me no matter what.

This is just the beginning.  I felt that I needed to Honor those who have put up with me for so long. :)

I love you all!

It's the Little Things to be Thankful For

Ahhhhh.  The little things.  The look you get from your mom, when you have said something crazy.  The voice of your sister when you feel like you can do nothing right.  The way your brother calls just to leave you with a comical message on the phone.

In life, we often see the major life events.  We notice when someone does something so terrible that we can't forgive them.  We notice when someone gives millions of dollars to an organization.

I challenge everyone, that if you have someone in your life that you are struggling to love right now to try this....

Find Joy in the Little Things.

Instead of criticizing someone for leaving their socks on the floor, admire them for how they treat others.

Instead of getting irritated with someone for not reading your mind and making the logical choice, notice their attempt to make you happy.

Instead of making an assumption that they are doing what they do to irritate you, maybe focus on that they don't do it to annoy you, but that they feel comfortable enough around you to be themselves....

Life is full of the little things.... how many can you find and admire about your loved ones??

Halloween Joy!

Well,
Brandon and I had the distinct pleasure of spending time with Lana and Ryan and the Kids. It is always a blessing.
We haven't had the chance to see them for a while.  Work has taken over, and they spent time in LaGrande.  So, when I got to see Addison and Keaton, it was a joy.
We went with them on Saturday to the Ward event, and then today we went with them to the Lloyd Center.

I feel very blessed to have the family I have.  I couldn't have picked a better family myself.

Life is full of Happy Moments

So.... I guess I must follow in my sister's footsteps....and start blogging.

My sisters and I started sending emails a while back talking about our happy moments.  This was designed to help bring comfort to us and to continue to bond us as sisters.  Originally we kept it to ourselves, and since the idea helped me so much, I wanted to share the same thought to anyone who wants to join.
